Coming Home
We just got back from a great family vacation in Florida. Like any trip with a toddler and a baby, it had its moments—flights, disrupted routines, strange sleeping arrangements—but it was still a gift. And yet, I was struck by how happy I was to come home. We were all exhausted, but walking through our front door brought this calm sense of relief. Like, yes—this is where we belong.
That feeling isn’t guaranteed. Some people come back from vacation and instantly feel stressed by their home—unfinished projects, lack of space, noisy neighbors, or just a nagging sense that something’s off. I feel incredibly lucky to say I don’t feel that way. Ironically, we almost didn’t see this house when it came on the market. It felt out of budget—but that “budget” was based on assumptions about price, not monthly cost. This home, despite the higher sticker price, actually had a lower monthly payment than others we were considering. We stayed open, ran the numbers, and it turned into a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Two quick thoughts from all this:
- If your home doesn’t bring you peace, it’s okay to consider other options. Even if it’s not the right time to move, working toward a plan brings more peace than staying stuck.
- Time in the market beats timing the market. You can’t predict the perfect moment to buy—but if you’re engaged and exploring, the right opportunity is more likely to find you.
If your home has you wanting more—or just something different—let’s talk. A quick discovery call might open more doors than you think. Worst case, I’ll be your sounding board.
