What is the Welcome Home Grant?
The Welcome Home Program, operated by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati (FHLB Cincinnati), offers grants to eligible homebuyers to assist with down payment and closing costs. Eligible homebuyers, including honorably discharged veterans, surviving spouses of military personnel, and active-duty military personnel, can receive grants of up to $25,000, while other homebuyers can receive up to $20,000. To qualify, homebuyers must apply for and be approved for a mortgage loan through one of FHLB Cincinnati's member financial institutions.​​


Who is eligible?
Total household income at or below 80% of the Mortgage Revenue Bond (MRB) limit for the county and state where the property is located.
A fully executed purchase contract on an eligible property.
Contribution of at least $500 of their own funds towards down payment and/or closing costs.
Completion of a satisfactory homebuyer counseling course prior to loan closing, if a first-time homebuyer (not required for non-first-time homebuyers).


What property types are eligible?​
The property will be the homebuyer’s primary residence.
Property types include single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums, duplexes, multi-unit properties (up to four family units), or qualified manufactured homes (if taxed as real estate and affixed to a permanent foundation).
The property must have a legally enforceable five-year retention mechanism requiring notice to FHLB Cincinnati of any refinancing, sale, foreclosure, deed in-lieu of foreclosure, or change in ownership during the five-year retention period.


How to apply?
Homebuyers must apply for the Welcome Home grant through one of the FHLB Cincinnati's member institutions.

 

Funds will be available for reservation on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8:00 a.m. ET on March 1, and will remain available until all funds have been reserved.​
