Spring Has Sprung (and So Has Bockfest!)

Spring in Cincinnati means a lot of things-longer days, unpredictable weather, and, of course, Bockfest! If you're not familiar, Bockfest is Cincinnati's delightfully quirky celebration of spring, German monks, Lent, beer, and... goats. Yes, goats.

The connection? It all goes back to the Bavarian pronunciation of Einbecker (a German brewery town), which sounded like Ein-Bock -the German word for billy goat. Monks, who fasted during Lent but were still allowed to drink beer, took full advantage by brewing doppelbock (a double-strength bock beer), essentially treating it as "liquid bread." Maybe that's where the happy monk stereotype comes from?

Bockfest is one of my favorite Cincinnati events. It's a little more spread out (and maybe a little more polished) than it used to be, but it's still a fantastic time. The parade, the Sausage Queen pageant, and the Beard Baron competition are all worth checking out. Just know that Bockfest does its own thing-so be open to a good time, but maybe scope out the details before bringing the kids. Crowds are my biggest concern with little ones in tow, but hey, you do you.

If you make it to Bockfest this weekend, let me know! I may or may not make it down-depends on work and whether my kids let me sleep.

Cheers,
Brad

P.S. Spring isn't just here for Cincinnati-it's here for the real estate market, too. If you're considering a move this year, let's get a game plan in place so we can find the best opportunities for you. Just hit reply and let me know where you are in the process!
